[Update July 23, 2011: Amy Winehouse has died. We have added a live video performance to remember her by.]

After Amy Winehouse’s disastrous performance last month, she has laid low. That all changed last night when she made a surprise appearance at her Goddaughter’s gig Wednesday evening. Dionne Bromfield was on-stage  singing, “Mama Said” when Amy climbed on stage and wrapped an arm around her. Dionne kept singing while Amy awkwardly danced around the stage.

Dionne was lucky enough to land the opening act for The Wanted at the iTunes Festival. Amy was well received by the audience when she popped on stage, but when Dionne passed her the microphone, Amy shook her head and refused to sing. She may have been trying to keep quiet, so she did not steal the show from her 15-year-old goddaughter, or she may have just been trying to avoid another onstage disaster.

Once Dionne’s set was over, Amy finally spoke to the audience. One audience member states, “Amy staggered onstage and grabbed the mic to beg the crowd to buy her protege’s new album.” So how did Amy’s protégé handle the situation? “Dionne looked totally bemused by the whole thing.” Bemused is better than embarrassed.

Amy’s last appearance on a stage was in Serbia. Her show left fans booing and screaming for refunds. The troubled singer was attempting to kick start her stalled career by going on a small tour. After the Serbia incident, Amy canceled all future concert dates. Amy is still clearly battling some kind of addiction. Weeks before her first concert date, she entered rehab for alcohol abuse. Doctors told her she would die if she did not stop drinking.

When Amy stumbled onto the Serbian stage, she was so out of it, she could hardly stand and definitely could not sing. The talented singer has such a beautiful voice it is disheartening to see her losing her career to her demons.

Amy’s endorsement may not have been one most aspiring singers hope for, but it certainly was unique. Dionne’s new album, “Good For The Soul,” is her second record released under Amy’s label, Lioness Records. Dionne’s first record, “Introducing Dionne Bromfield” made it to number 33 on the UK charts back in 2009.

Excuse me? This is extremely false. If you actually watched the whole concert, Amy didn’t just stumblr onto the stage. Dionne invited her on stage. Amy looked like she didn’t expect it at first and wasn’t sure what to do. She DID sing when Dionne put the microphone to her mouth and Amy seemed 100% clean and sober. Amy didn’t say anything to the crowd and everything was all good. Amy danced like she normally dances to the music, which is cute, she looked amazing and she gained weight and looks healthy. So you’re lying. She didn’t “crash” Dionne’s gig. Dionne is the one who invited her onstage and obviously dedicated the song to her as Amy is her god-mother.

looks like it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference now whether she stumbled on stage or what she did. her death seemed almost inevitable…but what a tragedy.
