Keeping Up With Kim Kardashian’s Lavish TV Wedding Plans
You’ve probably heard the news by now – Kim Kardashian is getting married! She and Kris Humphries were engaged last May when he presented her with a 20.5 carat diamond ring. (For those of you not familiar with diamond terminology, that’s more like the size of an asteroid rather than an engagement ring.) Rumors have been flying that Kim wanted to do it quickly, similar to how sister Khloe jumped into married bliss, and the exact date is now speculated to be August 20th.
Many have estimated her guest list to be close to 1000 people, but Ryan Seacrest demolishes that rumor. “Well, let me tell you, she’s very excited. It’s gonna be a beautiful event, I’m psyched for them.” But the talk show host goes on to say, “It will not be 1000 people, that is not true. It is not gonna be that many people. That’s too overwhelming, but it will be an amazing event that you will get a chance to see.”
The nuptials will take place at a lavish estate in Los Angeles and while the guests have already been invited, they’ve been sworn to secrecy. Kim and Kris have been busy, and on more than just the location. They’ve teamed up with Kim’s Dancing With the Stars partner Mark Ballas to create a memorable first dance. Kim has also, like many brides, been hawking the gym to make sure she’s in tip-top shape for her wedding.
Her sister Kourtney was seen with designer Vera Wang in New York last month, so speculation as risen that Vera will be designing Kim’s wedding dresses. (Yes, she’s actually going to have two.) When Kim entered the Vera Wang Bridal Salon with her film crew, it was pretty much confirmed. Vera also designed Khloe Kardashian’s wedding dress from her 2009 ceremony.
“Everything became real when Kim tried on gowns for the first time,” a friend told OK!. “When she tried on a veil, she started to tear up. She said she knew it was all meant to be! She’s on cloud nine right now.”
A friend reveals that she’s been trying on “strapless bodices and different-shaped skirts, everything from slinky satin to fuller mermaid style. She wants it to be a little bit of high fashion, but also timeless, classic and classy. It will be ivory, and most of the detailing will just be stitchwork or beading. Kim is being super hands-on and she’s making all the decisions so there’s no room for any of to screw up her big day,” the friend jokes. “But she’s being open-minded to what Vera Wang and her family has to say.”
Kim said the dress would be inspired by Old Hollywood and famous gowns she loves. “I have been pulling tears of dresses from magazines I really admire on women I’ve seen… like Christina Aguilera’s dress – the shape of it was beautiful. I even YouTubed Carrie from the Sex and the City movie when she tried on all those dresses.” She’s taking “bits and pieces” from various dresses and combining them to create the perfect wedding gown.
If you are a diehard fan and are suicidal that you can’t see the wedding, don’t fret – it’s going to air as a special episode for Keeping Up With the Kardashians on television so that all the fans can see.
